What Is the Robux Tax?

If you sell anything on Roblox, a game pass, a developer product, a UGC item, or even take donations in a game like Pls Donate, Roblox keeps a cut. That cut is the marketplace tax, and it's a flat 30%. So you walk away with 70% of whatever the item sold for.

Here's a quick example. You price a game pass at 1,000 Robux. Someone buys it. You don't get 1,000. Roblox takes 300, and 700 lands in your account. That gap catches a lot of new creators off guard, which is exactly why this calculator exists. Type in a number and it shows you the real take, instantly.

How the Calculator Works

The tool has three modes, and each one answers a different question creators actually ask.

Robux to Real Money: How DevEx Works

The 30% tax is only half the story for serious creators. The other half is turning that Robux into actual cash. Roblox lets eligible developers do this through a program called DevEx, short for Developer Exchange.

The rate isn't the same as what players pay to buy Robux. It's lower, because buying and cashing out are two different things. As of 2026 the standard DevEx rate is about $0.0038 per Robux. There's also a higher US 18+ rate of $0.0054, and an older $0.0035 rate that still applies to some older balances. You can switch between these in the calculator.

To cash out through DevEx you need at least 30,000 earned Robux, a verified email, and you must be 13 or older. Only earned Robux counts, not Robux you bought.

A Full Example

Say your game earns 1,000,000 Robux in a month. First the tax. Roblox takes 30%, leaving you 700,000 Robux. Now DevEx. At $0.0038 per Robux, that 700,000 becomes roughly $2,660 in real money. The calculator does both steps in one go so you don't have to.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is 1,000 Robux after tax?
After Roblox's 30% marketplace tax, 1,000 Robux leaves you with 700 Robux. At the standard DevEx rate, that's around $2.66 in real money.
Does the 30% tax apply to every sale?
Yes, for nearly all sales: game passes, developer products, UGC items, clothing, and donations. The one exception is Premium Payouts, the Robux you earn when Premium members play your game. Those are not taxed.
What price should I set to receive a specific amount?
Use the "Price to Set" mode. Because Roblox rounds down, the simple math of dividing by 0.7 can leave you a Robux short. The calculator adjusts for that so you list the exact right price.
What is the DevEx rate in 2026?
The standard rate is about $0.0038 per Robux. There's a higher US 18+ rate of $0.0054, and some older balances still cash out at the old $0.0035 rate. You can pick the rate in the calculator.
Do group sales get taxed too?
Yes. Group sales are taxed the same 30%. Roblox takes its cut first, then the remaining 70% goes into the group funds. Splitting those funds among members afterward is not taxed again.
Is this calculator official?
No. It's an independent tool built to help creators plan. It uses public Roblox rates, but rates and rules can change, so check the official Roblox site for anything that affects a real payout.
